Andrew and Reva’s wedding was just amazing. I’ve put a little montage together, which I posted on You Tube (my first montage, my first You Tube video … watch this space!).

Andrew and Reva’s wedding day is coming up really soon. They’re such a great couple, and I can’t wait to be part of their wedding day – I just know it’s going to be huge fun, and they’re going to give me the opportunity to take amazing shots.

We did their engagement shoot yesterday. Instead of heading off somewhere idyllic, they decided to be photographed on their stomping ground: the streets of Cape Town and in the Company Gardens.

It was a perfect day in Cape Town yesterday morning and, still feeling somewhat battered from the previous day’s wedding shoot, I gathered my kit and headed out into the quiet Sunday morning streets with them – Reva wearing a fabulous dress and the most awesome shoes! She had no problem whipping them off and walking barefoot when she felt like it, though.

We meandered past the divorce courts en route, and they decided they should have a pic that denotes no stopping … no stopping at the divorce court. Andrew found a movable no stopping sign, dragged it into the road and, being the sports that they are, they did a few runs up and down past the sign. (He’s a good citizen – he put it back where he found it!)

There will be no stopping at the divorce courts!

The bright red of the call box, the coke advert and the take-away shop against the dull black and grey of the streets and buildings caught my eye, and the ‘open happiness’ slogan, I thought, aptly described this couple.

Open happiness!

Then it was time to take off the heels, climb onto stuff and jump off them again. Why be grown-ups if you don’t have to?

A leap of faith

Then it was time to get the shoes back on and camp it up on Greenmarket Square. We purposefully kept the litter in the pic to keep the grunge-sophistication contrast.

Camping it up, grunge style

A quick, normal portrait, for convention’s sake …

I loved this blue wall, and had to shoot a pic or two against it, even though the security guard was not impressed at all.

Time for a tango, and a kiss or two, in the Company Gardens.

Thank goodness our opening dance is not the Tango!

Don't drop me!

The shoe fits

And it’s a wrap. Time for some coffee at Mugged and to talk over a few wedding plans.
